The Workshop on Algorithms in Bioinformatics covers research in all aspects of algorithmic work in bioinformatics. The emphasis is on discrete algorithms and machine-learning methods that address important problems in molecular biology, that are founded on sound models, that are computationally efficient, and that have been implemented and tested in simulations and on real datasets. The goal is to present recent research results, including significant work-in-progress, and to identify and explore directions of future research.
WABI'06 is sponsored by EATCS (the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science) and ISCB (the International Society for Computational Biology) and jointly organized and colocated with ESA'06 in the context of ALGO'06.
Original research papers (including significant work-in-progress) or state-of-the-art surveys are solicited in all aspects of algorithms in bioinformatics, including, but not limited to:
Accepted papers will be published in the Springer series Lecture Notes in Computer Science, under the series heading of Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics and will be allotted 12 pages. Previous proceedings of WABI appeared in LNCS/LNBI volumes 2149 (Aarhus 2001), 2452 (Rome 2002), 2812 (Budapest 2003), 3240 (Bergen 2004), and 3692 (Mallorca 2005). |
Submissions should consist of an extended abstract of no more than 12 pages when formatted using the Springer LNCS style. An abstract should start with a presentation of the biological problem, the results achieved, their significance and a comparison with previous work. This material should be understandable to non-specialists. A more technical exposition should follow and an optional short appendix may contain details or additional data to be consulted at the discretion of the program committee. The submission must include the corresponding author's email address.
All submissions must be online, through the EasyChair submission system at the WABI'06 submission site. You need to register on that web site before submitting; you may update your submission(s) up to the last minute. A standard postscript or PDF file must be received by 23:59 (GMT) on May 15, 2006, in order for your submission to be considered. Authors who experience problems generating a suitable Postscript or PDF file or whose submission exceeds the file size limit should contact the program chairs.
Simultaneous submission to another conference with published proceedings is not allowed; however, simultaneous submission to a journal is allowed, provided that the authors notify the program chairs; if published in a journal, such a contribution will be published as a short abstract (1 page) in the WABI proceedings.
In order to ensure inclusion of their work in the proceedings, authors must present their accepted papers at the workshop. Be aware that the deadline for sending the final version of an accepted paper is firm, due to the tight schedule for preparing the proceedings in time for the workshop. The final version must be prepared in LaTeX using the LNCS style.
Address any questions to the program committee chairs, Philipp Bücher or Bernard M.E. Moret.
